With Fred Butler’s resignation from the Issaquah City Council, due to his election as the new mayor, a new council member will be appointed to complete his term which expires in Dec. 2015.

Applicants will present their responses to a series of questions in public at the Jan. 21 council meeting. The city clerk will randomly draw the order in which each candidate will make their presentation.

So far seven individuals have expressed interest in the seat.

Terry Davis, Tim Flood, Cyrus Krohn, Nina Milligan, Joan Probala, Bill Ramos and Bryan Weinstein have applied for the position. Ramos and Flood applied last year for the seat vacated by Mark Mullet, which went to Joe Forkner. Ramos listed his occupation as a community planner, employed with the Federal Transit Administration last year, and Ramos is employed with Microsoft.

Milligan is the communications manager for the Issaquah Highlands Council.

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and resident of the City of Issaquah for at least one year prior to the appointment.

The council expects to fill the vacancy during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 3, 2014. The newest council member will then take office during that meeting, and he or she will serve the remainder of the term.
