Shining students raise cheer for sick teens

In 2001, then Eastlake High School senior Jamie Bastine created the Junior Orthopedic Guild for a senior project.

Seven years later the guild, known as JOG, has almost 100 members, all generous Eastlake students wanting to do their bit to contribute to the local children’s hospital.

Recently, the group organized a Teen Drive to collect items for teenage patients at the hospital.

More than a dozen large shopping bags were filled with sweatshirts, hats, books, games, bath and nail products, slippers/socks, gift cards and many more items for teenage patients.

Nordstrom graciously donated the shopping bags for each classroom to use.

Eastlake JOG members attend monthly meetings, volunteer in the playroom at the hospital each month, organize drives and fundraisers, make greeting cards, provide staff for the KISS phone-a-thon and Nordstrom Santa breakfasts, as well as organizing and participating in many other activities, which support the hospital.
