Skyline used another stellar offensive performance Friday to dominate Monroe, 59-21, and advance to the first round of the 4A state playoffs.
The Spartans scored 38 first-half points in Friday’s 4A state-qualifying game, behind the efficient play of quarterback Max Browne. The junior completed 17 of his 25 passes for 263 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.
Chase Premone started the game off with a bang for Skyline, returning the opening kickoff 94 yards for a TD. Browne then hooked up with Nic Sblendorio for TD passes of 4, 6 and 53 yards. He also found Matt Sinatro for a 43-yard TD and Taggart Krueger for a 6-yard score.
Damien Greene and Nate Gibson added rushing touchdowns for the Spartans, who improved to 7-3 on the season.
Skyline faces Mead (9-1) next weekend in Spokane. An official date and time are to be determined.
Eastlake blows out Jefferson
Eastlake scored 34 points in the second quarter Friday on its way to a dominating 48-0 victory over Jefferson in the state-qualifying round of the 4A playoffs.
The Wolves held a 40-0 lead at the half, led by Ryan Lewis’ three touchdown runs of 7, 9 and 28 yards. The senior ended with 146 yards.
Quarterback Keegan Kemp also threw for three touchdown passes, hitting Brian Quick for scores of 6 and 10 yards, and Cameron Nelson for an 11-yard score.
David Hernandez added a 32-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Eastlake (9-1) will travel to Federal Way (10-0) next weekend in the opening round of the 4A state playoffs. A time and date are to be determined.
Issaquah season ends in Vancouver
Turnovers plagued Issaquah Friday night as the Eagles’ season came to an end with a 47-17 loss to Skyview in Vancouver.
The Eagles turned the ball over at the Storm’s 5-yard line early in the game, and quarterback Ethan Kalin later threw a pair of interceptions, in what eventually resulted in a 24-0 halftime deficit.
Issaquah started the second-half off with an Alex Shane 30-yard field goal, but Skyview answered with another 14-0 run to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles eventually tacked on two fourth-quarter TDs, scoring on a 1-yard run from Kalin and a 57-yard pass from Kalin to Reed Peterson.
Skyview quarterback Kieran McDonagh threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns, while running back Parker Henry rushed for 123 and a pair of TDs.
Issaquah ended its season with a 7-3 record. Skyview (8-2) moves on to host Kentwood or Gig Harbor in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.
