The annual Polar Bear Swim at South Cove Beach will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 1, 2011. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 10:50-10:55 a.m. and bring their towel, flip flops, bathrobe and blankets.
All spectators on the beach will do a count of 15 seconds.
Participants must wear bathing suits only – no wetsuits. They also must be a good swimmer.
Those under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
First prize will be given to the person who stays in the water the longest.
Second prize will go to the person in the most outlandish bathing suit (or lack thereof).
Third prize will go to the loudest, most encouraging spectator.
