Who stole Cookie from the car?
That question has been answered, thanks to the Issaquah Police Department. Officers on Thursday reunited Cookie with her owner, who asked not to be named.
Cookie, a one-year-old Maltesse, was stolen after her owner’s car was broken into and Cookie’s cage taken while parked at the Sammamish Club on Sept. 11.
A break in the case came on Thursday, when staff at the Sammamish Club called the police to report seeing a suspicious vehicle cruising the lot. Police responded and caught the suspects as they were trying to flee, Commander Stan Conrad said.
The suspects face multiple charges, including reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of burglary tools.
The suspects also provided the location of Cookie.
Officers picked up Cookie from Bellevue, and brought her back to the station where her owner came to pick her up.
“I wasn’t sure how we would know this was her owner,” Conrad said. “But once she saw him she just starting yipping. Unfortunately recoveries are rare so it’s even more rewarding to reunite them.”
Conrad said it was good work by vigilant staff at Sammamish Club, along with good response and work by police that brought about the happy reunion.
“It’s a happy end to a sad story,” Conrad said.
