Students from Liberty, Skyline, and Issaquah high schools will be spending their summer with engineers and scientists who are working to develop a plan for human exploration on Mars. The students were selected for the Washington Aerospace Summer Residency Program to be held at the Museum of Flight in Seattle in June and July.

The students were among more than 300 statewide who began competing last December for a spot in the program by completing 10 NASA and University of Washington-designed lessons.

The students are: Kunal Gupta, Nicole Lambert, Tali Magidson and Daniel Slade from Issaquah High School; Marco Cheng and Steven Tuttle from Liberty High School; and Damon Anderson, Steven Benack, Karishma Mandyam, Ashley Shineman and Vaiva Snapkauskaite from Skyline High School.

The aerospace program is designed to connect high school juniors with educational and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through independent learning, hands-on interaction, professional guidance, and site-based tours.
