The blotter consists of Sammamish police officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in the city. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
June 2
IDENTITY THEFT: A resident in the 25800 block of SE 28th Place reports around 10:50 a.m. that someone filed taxes under the resident’s name in April, attempted to take a $17,000 loan in the person’s name in May and put a mail hold on the resident’s mail in May.
June 4
HIKER: Eastside Fire and Rescue assists in a rescue at Beaver Lake Park, 2526 244 Ave. SE, for an elderly woman who fell while hiking around 9:45 a.m.
June 5
THEFT VIA OPEN DOOR: A burglar entered a residence in the 2800 block of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway through an open door off the deck around 7:36 p.m.
June 6
TOO DRUNK: Sammamish police arrested a person for shoplifting alcohol at the Klahanie QFC, 4570 Klahanie Dr. SE, around 4:13 a.m. A preliminary breath test showed the subject had a 0.387 blood alcohol level; a medical response unit transported the subject to Swedish-Issaquah for detox.
OH DEER: Around 9 a.m., an officer euthanized a critically injured deer in the 400 block of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway. Around noon, another officer euthanized another critically injured deer at Sammamish Childrens School, 207 228th Ave. SE.
DRUNK ON A DOCK: An 18-year-old was found drinking alcohol in Sammamish Landing, 4607 E. Lake Sammamish NE.
June 7
BIKE: A resident in the 3000 block of 255 Ave. SE reported someone stole a bike from her unlocked car after forgetting to lock her vehicle after she arrived home with groceries to unload.
CALL ME: The resident in the 400 block of 233 Place SE reported that an unknown person signed for and took a package containing an iPhone 6s from the residence.
June 8
BEST PLACE FOR THREATS: A disgruntled student posted threatening messages toward Beaver Lake Middle School staff and students on Instagram after the student was suspended for bringing a vapor pen onto school grounds.
June 9
SPOOKED: A burglar entered a residence in the 1200 block of E. Lake Sammamish Parkway by pushing the screen and portable air conditioning vent plate out of a window. The resident apparently spooked the burglar and the subject left without taking anything.
Issaquah
June 10
CHICKEN RUN: At 8:47 a.m., a business in the 300 block of Front Street called with a noise complaint. Police found chickens in the back yard area of the law offices and attempted to contact the responding party.
GUILTY CONSCIENCE: A business in the 1600 block of 11th Avenue NW reported at 10:28 a.m. that a subject had come into the store and taken $280 worth of items. However, the suspect returned the items shortly afterwards.
FENDER-BENDER: At 3:05 p.m., police responded to an accident in the 1400 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard. A subject’s car was bumped from behind by another car while stopped on the road. There were no injuries, but there was minor damage to the rear of the first car and the front of the second.
SLIGHTLY WRONG NUMBER: At 8:08 p.m., a female accidentally called 911. She said she meant to call India instead.
June 11
PANHANDLING: At 10:27 a.m. at Northwest Gilman Boulevard and Maple Street NW, police contacted two females who were trying to get to Wisconsin, and explained to them that panhandling is illegal on Northwest Gilman Boulevard. Police gave the subjects directions to public walking trails that would assist them in reaching their final destination.
HARASSMENT: The manager of a business in the 5500 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE reported at 6:09 p.m. that a female had been harassing customers and jumping into the road. The manager wanted the woman to be trespassed; however, police were unable to locate her.
BAD DAY: Police contacted a subject at 7:36 p.m. at Southeast 60th Street and 221st Place SE. Police found that she was not carrying alcohol, but did seem noticeably upset. The subject told police that she did not want to talk to them and was having a really bad day, and then walked away.
June 12
CIGARETTE SHOPPING: Police contacted a suspicious subject at 11:09 a.m. on the third floor of Highlands Park and Ride. The subject said that he was looking for cigarettes. Police ran his information through the dispatch but found no criminal record.
CIVIL DISPUTE: At 12:14 p.m. in the 4500 block of 192nd Avenue SE, police responded to a dispute between neighbors about a pine tree that one neighbor hates. Police gave suggestions for how to resolve the issue, as well as a case report.
CEMETERY RENDEZ-VOUS: At 1:09 p.m. in the 300 block of West Sunset Way, police contacted a suspicious subject at the cemetery. She said that she was meeting a friend to travel to Ellensburg together.
THEFT: Police caught a subject 2:43 p.m. in the 1800 block of 12th Avenue NW with $32.47 worth of stolen groceries. The 39-year-old Renton man was arrested.
THEFT REPORT: At 4:54 p.m. in the 1500 block of Northeast Hawthorne Square, a $500 tablet was reported stolen from a 2012 Toyota Prius.
June 13
DITCHED CAR: At 12:32 a.m. in the 100 block of Newport Way NW, a car was reported to be in a ditch. There were no injuries and the subject said he would handle it on his own.
POST-WORKOUT NAP: At 10:41 a.m. in the 5700 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway, police found a male sleeping. The subject said that he had was resting after working out, and that he was fine.
MORE SNOOZERS: Police contacted a man who was sleeping on the floor in a stall at 11:00 a.m. in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue NE. He made his way towards the bus stop on East Sunset Way.
VEHICLE PROWL: At 1:02 p.m. in the 5200 block of 236th Place SE, police found that a Ford F-250 had been prowled. Tool boxes and tools were stolen and the window handle was damaged, resulting in a $420 total loss.
BUYER’S REMORSE: A male reported at 2:12 p.m. in the 100 block of East Sunset Way that he had just discovered that the vehicle he purchased for $3,500 the previous night actually had a lot of problems. The complainant called the seller back; the seller responded that the complainant should have done better research on the car to begin with.
IRRESPONSIBLE KID: At 4:12 p.m., a female in the 1700 block of 14th Avenue NE reported that she is having trouble with her son taking accountability for his newly-purchased vehicle. She said that she gave her son money for the car and paid his first insurance payment.
June 14
THEFT: A red Nissan Altima was reported stolen at 11:51 a.m. in the 1700 block of 16th Avenue NE. The total loss was $5,000.
NO PEST PERMIT: Police contacted an exterminator salesman for pest control at 12:18 p.m. in the 2600 block of Northwest Pine Cone Place. Police asked the salesman to get a permit through the city.
ABANDONED BAGGAGE: At 5:36 p.m. in the 1500 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard, police investigated a suspicious backpack found by the mailbox at QFC. A male walked up and stated that the backpack was his, and that he had been at the nearby Starbucks.
June 15
DIRTY MOUTH: A complainant called police at 7:04 a.m. from the 500 block of Newport Way NW to report that her neighbor was constantly coughing, yelling and swearing out the window. Police arrived at the scene and reported hearing coughing, but no yelling or swearing.
COLLISION: At 11:20 a.m. in the 1300 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard, police assisted with information exchange after a collision. A car had pulled out of a private driveway and collided with another car proceeding east in the correct lane of travel. No injuries occurred.
UNWANTED PHOTO SHOOT: A woman called police at 3:23 p.m. from the Costco in the 1800 block of 10th Avenue Northwest to report that another Costco member had taken a photo of her adult daughter. Costco management contacted the subject and requested that he delete the photo. Police reminded the woman that it is not illegal to photograph someone in a public place.
TP TROUBLE: At 10:41 p.m. in the 1700 block of 15th Avenue NE, a resident reported that the home had been TP’d by juveniles. The complainant said that this was the second time in five days that this happened.
June 16
SOLICITORS: Police responded to a call at 10:47 a.m. at the Target store in the 700 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard. Two individuals had a soliciting table set up to the side of the entrance, but were being respectful from what police could see.
BICYCLE THEFT: At 5:20 p.m., a bicycle worth $760 was reported stolen from the 200 block of Mountain Park Boulevard SW.
PARKING SPACE SQUABBLE: At 8:21 p.m. in the 900 block of Northeast Ingram Way, police helped to mediate a verbal dispute over a parking space.
June 17
UNDERAGE DRINKERS: At 12:20 a.m. at a business in the 100 block of East Sunset Way, an employee thought that a subject who was over 21 was buying alcohol for underage juveniles. An argument started and the employee wanted the subject to leave. The subject left.
