In case you missed them, teens created 8-bit “Star Wars” characters R2-D2 and Yoda, made from sticky notes, on display in the Sammamish Library last month, to celebrate Teen Tech Week and Youth Art Month.
Teen Tech Week is an annual national initiative of the Youth Adult Library Services Association. This year’s theme, “Libraries are for making …”, was to show how libraries are creative spaces that extend teens’ learning beyond the classroom.
Don’t miss the next library event, “Protect Your Peeps,” for sixth through 12 graders Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m.
The event is a STREAM-based program; it focuses on science, technology, reading, engineering, art and math.
The “Protect Your Peeps” event where teens build “castle walls” using recycled materials and “catapults” from crafting sticks and rubber bands.
They will put their designs to the test when teams engage in “war” — catapulting marshmallows at the opposing group.
