Martin Luther King, Jr. was many things to many people - a clergyman, an African-American activist, a civil rights activist. Above all these things, he was an advocate for human rights, and gave so much of his life helping those who needed help.

On the third Monday of January each year, near his birthday on Jan. 15, the people of America celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to remember the man and honor what he fought so hard to achieve.

Here in Sammamish you can celebrate Martin Luther King Jr Day in the best spirit – by helping others in need.

On Jan. 18, the City of Sammamish is partnering with Faith in Action to give support to local seniors.

Help a visually impaired man or a couple who are both in wheel chairs with housework.

Help an elderly woman with yard work.

All volunteer jobs will run from 2-6 hours, depending on the number of volunteers who sign up.

Please – no young children. Volunteers should be 14 or older.
