Thousands without power Wednesday morning in Sammamish, Issaquah

Some schools within the Lake Washington School District are closed due to power outages.

Nearly 3,000 Sammamish residents and more than 1,000 in Issaquah were without power early Wednesday morning, according to Puget Sound Energy’s outage map.

PSE crews have restored some power, but other outages continue to pop up.

Outages also closed several schools within the Lake Washington School District, including Eastlake High School, Tesla STEM High School, Inglewood Middle School, Rachel Carson Elementary, Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary, Christa McAuliffe Elementary, Margaret Mead Elementary and the Renaissance School of Art and Reasoning.

Maple Hills Elementary School in the Issaquah School District is closed due to a power outage. Endeavour Elementary, previously affected by a power outage, now has power and school will be in session, according to the school district.

The outages followed heavy rain and strong winds that hit the area Tuesday, resulting in a flood watch through Wednesday evening and a wind advisory until Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Eastside Fire & Rescue remind travelers this morning to avoid driving through large areas of standing water.

In Issaquah more than 900 PSE customers near the 10900 block of Renton Issaquah Road Southeast are without power as of 7 a.m.

In Sammamish, about 80 more people are still reportedly without power near the 1700 block of West Beaver Lake Drive Southeast.

Another 85 are in the dark near Southeast 24th Way between Southeast 28th Place and 196th Avenue Southeast in Sammamish. Nearly another couple dozen reportedly don’t have power near 218th Avenue Southeast and Southeast Fourth Street.

Around 5:30 a.m. Puget Sound Energy restored power to more than 2,000 of its customers near Eastlake High School off of 228th Avenue Northeast.

By 7 a.m., crews restored another 720 are without power near Inglewood Middle School off of Northeast Eighth Street in Sammamish.

As of 7 a.m., power was restored to more than 180 people in Issaquah near Southeast 158th Street.

Puget Sound Energy is currently investigating the outages.
