Transient burglar shot in Carnation

A homeowner shot and wounded a man who tried to break into his home Wednesday morning in unincorporated King County outside Carnation. According to a report from the King County Sherrif's office, the incident occurred about 5 a.m. in the 3600 block of Lake Langlois Road NE.

According to a report from the King County Sherrif’s office, the incident occurred about 5 a.m. in the 3600 block of Lake Langlois Road NE.

The homeowner, in his 70’s, lives alone. He heard someone breaking into his car and went to investigate. He got to his back door at about the same time the 35 year-old suspect broke through the door.

A fight ensued and the homeowner received a contusion on the head. He retreated to another room and retrieved his pistol. He found the suspect in the kitchen. There was another altercation and the suspect was shot twice.

The suspect was not previously known to deputies, and may be a transient living the woods.

The homeowner went to a nearby house and told his neighbor what happened. The neighbor went to the victim’s house and kept the downed suspect at gunpoint while the Sheriff’s Office was called.

The suspect was arrested when Sheriff’s deputies arrived. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The man was not previously known to deputies, and may be a transient living the woods.

The homeowner was treated at a local hospital.
