Natalie Gress and Katy Orr have been named students of the month for February at Liberty High School. The awards are presented by the Rotary Club of Issaquah.

Gress, a senior, is the daughter of Don and Kandice Gress. She was sponsored by teacher Katherine Klekas.

Gress is president of the Drama Club and has held a variety of leadership roles at the school. She also was recognized for the number of volunteer hours, both officially and unofficially, that she contributes. She is involved in acting, improv, playing soccer and playing the trumpet in the school’s marching band. She has been a member of the school’s Honor Society from 2011 to the present.

Outside of school, she is student chair for the Renton Municipal Arts commission, an apprentice for Green Stage Shakespeare in the Park and a volunteer tutor.

She plans to major in theater and English in college.

Orr, a senior, is the daughter of Barbara and David Orr. She was sponsored by teachers Jana Dalpez and Jared Tanner.

Orr has maintained a 3.6 grade point average, and is taking Advanced Placement psychology, honors physics, and College in the High School Calculus.

Orr plays an Irish drum and sings in a Celtic group. She is also learning how to play the bass drum. She is active in theater and does screen writing. She is also an active volunteer at her church.

She plans to get a degree in degree in business and a minor in something music/theater related. She wants to go into business, possibly being a producer for theater.
