The Cougar Mountain Academy introduced the Picassos of tomorrow at its 5th annual Children’s International Art Show, which opened Thursday, Jan. 29.

The exhibition will be open Friday, Jan. 30, in the Academy auditorium, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Parents, friends, and members of the public are encouraged to drop by to have a look at the colorful array of works.

Eight-year-old Wesley Chan said that he was introduced to art by his mother, who also loved to paint. His piece “Untitled” is the sixth painting he has done, and the second to be shown at the annual show.

Wesley remembers last year’s exhibition fondly. “All I can remember are the cookies,” he said.

Mikio Yap took just a few days to complete his amazing work, “Sundrop.”

Student Serina Chen already feels the urge to be an artist.

Her works, “Neptune’s Trident” and “Carribbean Sea” demonstrate an obvious talent, impressive for someone of her age.

Her after-school art classes are clearly paying off.

Five-year-old Jasmine Jiwani was just happy to make a bit of a mess with the bright colors, though her Dad might be less thrilled when he sees the shirt of his that Jasmine wore while painting “One Sunny Day.”
