Gerda Marie Franc (nee Schnitzer)
April 18, 1940 – January 11, 2016 was born in Graz, Austria.
Gerda passed away unexpectedly on 1/11/16. Gerda was a devoted, loving and hard-working wife, mother, grandmother, friend and colleague. She thrived on getting things done and loved a good challenge. An adventurous baker and cook, she was happiest when she could feed others with her delicious dishes–especially her traditional Austrian recipes. Family and friends will always remember Gerda as being eternally optimistic and supportive to anyone who needed help.
Gerda established Wordex, a Secretarial and Answering Service located in University Place in the Tacoma area. She worked for the King County Prosecutors’ Office before joining the KIRO News Family as the Sports Director’s secretary. Gerda was then hired as executive secretary to the CEO of Siemens Ultrasound in Issaquah, Washington. Gerda has worked over 18 years as a real estate agent/broker, most recently with John L. Scott in Sammamish.
Gerda served as President of the Glenwood Homeowners Board of Directors as well as on the Klahanie Annexation Transition Committee with the City of Sammamish.
Gerda is survived by her husband, Gary; eldest son, Mike (Pritsana) who lives in Thailand and their son; daughter, Michelle and her two daughters; and son, Chris of West Seattle as well as by family members still living in Austria, Germany, and Italy.
Gerda and Gary married at Saint Adelaide’s Parish in Highland, California where they lived for a time. The family has lived in Prince William County, Virginia, Fircrest, Washington and in Issaquah/Sammamish, Washington where Gerda lived until her untimely death.
