Ethel Jane Leffler Eskelsen was born on Jan. 29, 1921 to Philip Edward and Annie May Leffler. She had one brother, Philip Wayne Leffler. She changed her name to Jan Eskelsen. She passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2021. She leaves her sons Ralph & Niels Eskelsen, 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Jan lived an amazing life in her century-long life’s journey. She learned and taught many values to her family. From the depression era she learned how to preserve fruits, vegetables, and fish. She valued not only the simple things in life, but she loved everyone she came in contact with.
With her energetic and vibrant personality, she did the things she loved, from RV’ing with her special RV buddies and family, to being adventurous, finding the beauty in remote areas of the Northwest and all the way down to Honduras.
She became a professional seamstress and designed her own clothing. She was a designer ahead of her time, even when she was young. She had aspirations of owning her own women’s clothing store. She continued her craft which she loved and cherished.
Jan was known for her service to others. She also worked many years in the LDS Temple in Bellevue.
She was adopted in the Tlingit tribe, the Eagle and Raven clans by her dear friends Bea & Paul Jackson. She was part of many other cultures around the world, in Honduras and Guatemala. Jan was family to all, known by so many, and an inspiration to all she came in contact with.
Her funeral will be Sat., Sept. 18th at the LDS chapel in Issaquah at 11:00 AM. The address is: 1100 6th Ave. SE, Issaquah, WA.
