Ruth Barney Brazil of Issaquah, WA passed away on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 92 years old. Ruth was born on December 6, 1925 to Harlow and Pearl Barney and was the youngest of six sisters.

Ruth went to Lowden grade school #41 which is now the L’ecole Winery and graduated from Walla Walla high school.

Ruth was a strong family matriarch and a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out and made the world a better place. Ruth had many wonderful friends and made friends everywhere she went.

Ruth married James L. Brazil on July 5, 1947. She met Jim while he was in Pasco, WA where he was stationed in the Navy. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2008. Ruth and Jim built the first house at Sahalee Country Club where they were charter members since 1969. Ruth continued to be a member until her death. Ruth was a very passionate and avid golfer. She was Sahalee Club Champion in 1991, Super Senior Club Champion in 2007 and 2011. She served as Captain of the Sahalee Women’s division, Sahalee Golf Team and was Co-President of the Under Nines Golf Association. Ruth was an all-around sports fan and loved the Mariners.

Ruth is survived by her children Vivian O’Shaughnessy (Ed), Shirley Watson (Thom), Steve Brazil (Catherine), Susie Bailor (Wade) and grandchildren, Colleen, Barry, Meghan, Brittanie, Blake, Lauren and great grandchildren Kelsie, Kaitlin, Emilie and Josh.

A celebration of life will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Sammamish, WA at 11:00 a.m., Friday May 11, 2018.
