Stan M. Magee, resident of Issaquah, WA, passed away on Friday, February 14 at the age of 89. Born in Groveland, CA, on August 10, 1935 to Mark and Stella Magee, he graduated from Sonora Union High School in 1952. He received a Bachelor’s degree from OSU in 1957 and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi fraternity, and later earned a Master’s degree in international business from Puget Sound University in 1981. Stan worked for Boeing for 32 years in IT and Manufacturing on major projects like the 707, 727, 737, 747, and 767.
During his retirement he participated in the international software standards group ISO/IEC where he was a leader in the development of international software standards such as 12207 and 15288. His role in ISO/IEC allowed him to travel the world, including a journey to Moscow in 1992 to assist a subgroup of the Russian Olympic committee.
Stan loved to spend time with his grandchildren ‘hiring’ them to help around his home office and garden, and taking them out to lunches, movies, fishing, and UW football games. In this time, he had three dogs, Smokey, Java, and Schnoze, with whom he went hunting for grouse in the foothills of Chelan, WA.
Stan lived an action-packed life, continuing to travel, work on his business, and host family gatherings until the very end. He will be fondly remembered for his bulldog determination, quick wit, and deep love for his family.
Stan is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Stan’s life will be held later this year.
