A recent article on Issaquah’s East Sunset Way open house mentioned the city’s November bond issue to build four projects, describing them as “transportation improvements aimed at reducing congestion in a crowded city.”

This statement is completely inaccurate. As an engineer, I have looked at them all and can say that none of the projects provide any meaningful traffic congestion relief. What they do provide are safety enhancements, multi-use improvements and the beautification of a city entrance street.

Dig into the project descriptions and see for yourself what they will do. You will see how deceptive the city is being as they and the pro-committee roll out their campaign to tell us how much we need these projects.

Proponents would like folks to believe this bond is about congestion relief in order to convince you to vote for it because traffic congestion in town is terrible. Don’t let them pull the wool over your eyes. These projects won’t fix that, period.
