Yep, you’re hearing voices — four of them to be exact.
Starting this week, the Reporter will begin rotating new columns from four people who will offer various perspectives about many issues.
Meet Millie Vierra. Born and raised in Maui, she moved from Connecticut to Issaquah in 1998. Vierra’s 30-year occupation as a stay-at-home mom has afforded her the luxury of pursuing her creative side. She enjoys making crafts; her latest collaboration has been with Gilman Gallery in Issaquah. She also enjoys writing, is an avid blogger and authoring a book remains on her bucket list. Vierra’s column, titled “Sprinkled with Humor,” will offer readers lighthearted insights into the columnist’s every day interactions and experience living in the Issaquah community.
Larry Crandall is a retired educator who currently serves on the city of Sammamish’s Planning Commission and is a past member of the city’s Parks Commission. He enjoys music, traveling and gardening. In fact, his first column is about local community gardens. Crandall enjoys writing about various topics that readers can relate to, from seniors to homeless issues.
Amy McOmber is a 22-year resident of Sammamish and mother of four children. She instructs students in the performing arts through her work with her nonprofit organization, Small Hands on Art. She is passionate about spotlighting unique people she meets in this community, events she attends and more.
Skip Ferderber is a technology writer and editor. A former Los Angeles Times staff writer, he has written locally for Alaska Airlines Magazine, GeekWire.com, Seattle Business Journal and Puget Sound Business Journal. His column “Technology for Us” is designed for people who want to stay informed on the newest trends in consumer technology but don’t want to be overwhelmed by tech talk.
We hope you will enjoy these columnists, learn something new and engage in civic dialogue by writing a letter to the editor if their columns incite you to do so. Email editor@issaquahreporter.com — your voices are always welcome too.
