Mackenzie Schiltz simply couldn’t find her shot Wednesday during Issaquah’s 4A state opening win over Lewis & Clark.
That certainly wasn’t the case for the junior in Thursday’s quarterfinal game.
Schiltz hit six three-pointers — one shy of the state tournament record — en route to a 20-point performance and a 67-47 drubbing of Lake Stevens.
“Yesterday wasn’t the best shooting day for me so I had in my head that today I’m going to go out there and kind of make up for (it),” she said.
Schiltz hit six of her eight attempts, including four in the first half.
Issaquah led from start to finish, taking a 22-8 advantage after the first quarter and a 39-26 halftime lead.
The Eagles maintained a double-digit cushion the entire second half, also getting a solid offensive effort from senior Domi Mendezona and junior Maddey Pflaumer. The duo scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The victory moved Issaquah into the 4A state semifinal game at 7 p.m., Friday against Auburn Riverside at the Tacoma Dome.
“It’s exciting, it’s right where we want to be,” head coach Kathy Gibson said.
