Bear Creek’s Markezich takes seventh and eighth in distance runs at state

Bear Creek freshman Olivia Markezich placed seventh in the 1,600 (5:20.66) and eighth in the 3,200 (11:37.04) at the 1A state track and field championships last weekend at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

Bear Creek freshman Olivia Markezich placed seventh in the 1,600 (5:20.66) and eighth in the 3,200 (11:37.04) at the 1A state track and field championships last weekend at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

For Redmond High at the 4A state event at Mount Tahoma in Tacoma, Colin Cottom took 14th in both the discus (126-03) and javelin (149-09), Patrick Thomson took 13th in the high jump (5-10) and Kaitlyn Hartman took 15th in the discus (101-01). Steve Brown took 12th in the 300-meter hurdles prelims (40.48).
