Eagles girls track team wins Class 4A state title

Issaquah captures state championship for the second year in a row

For the second consecutive year, the Issaquah Eagles girls track team captured first place at the Class 4A state meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma on May 28.

The Eagles tallied 74 team points, edging out second place Tahoma (61 team points) to capture the 4A state title. The Eagles 800 relay team consisting of Elisa Burdette, Nikki Stephens, Alia Sugarman and Siarfo Abekah captured first place with a time of 1:39.71. Eagles’ sophomore Sami Corman nabbed first place in the 800 with a time of 2:14.67. Nikki Stephens earned second place in the 400 and 100 hurdles. The Eagles 1600 relay team consisting of Mackenzie Crandall, Burdette, Stephens and Corman finished in first place with a time of 3:51.75.
