The Eastlake girls golf team captured third place Wednesday at the District 2 championships at Snohomish Golf Course with 60 team points. Newport won the tournament with 81 points and Redmond was second with 66.
Eastlake sophomore Megan Wotherspoon finished the two-day tournament tied for first place with Newport’s Nicole Lomax, before losing a tiebreaker and finishing second. Wotherspoon shot a 80-81–161 and Lomax shot a 79-82–161.
Wolves’ senior Emmie Schwartz finished the tournament in fifth place with an 87-79–166. She struggled on day one, but rallied on day two with the best overall score. Junior Dana Mydland finished sixth overall with a 85-81–166.
With top 12 finishes, all three Eastlake golfers earned berths to the 4A state tournament May 25-26 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
Wolves’ junior Tera Stenhouse ended the tournament in 17th place with a 90-91–181, senior Kenzie Carlson finished 26th place with a 96-99–195 and freshman Sophia Palenscar finished 31st with a 99-100–199.
Issaquah finished the tournament in fourth place with seven team points.
The Eagles failed to advance anyone on to the state tournament, but senior Katherine Yoon finished 14th overall, earning the second alternate spot with a 93-84–177. Junior Morgan Young was 22nd overall with a 97-94–191. Sophomore Lauren Merdinyan finished 28th overall with a 94-104–198. Senior Serena Lerkantitham (104-97–201) and sophomore Elin Skaardal (104-99–203) finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively.
Skyline placed fifth overall with six team points.
Senior Ashley Young had the high finish for the Spartans in 15th place with a 88-90–178. Senior Emily Baldwin placed 25th with a two-day total of 99-96–195.
