Eastlake football set for big stage

The Eastlake football team will face Woodinville at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at Qwest Field. The game is part of The Best of the West Football Classic — a four-game event hosted by Bellevue High School.

Kamiak and Shorewood open the event at 10:30 a.m. Redmond and Bothell play at 4:30 p.m. and Bellevue takes on California powerhouse San Ramon at 7:30 p.m.

All-day admission is $7 for students and $13 for adults.

Skyline draws national ranking

Maxpreps.com, a popular high school sports Web site, honored the Skyline football team with a No. 20 overall national ranking earlier in the week. The Spartans were the only team from Washington recognized in the top 25.

According the Web site, Skyline earned the recognition because of its returning core of players, including quarterback Jake Heaps and wide receiver Kasen Williams. Texas and Florida had the most teams on the list at three apiece.
