Still in a battle for the top spot in the KingCo 4A, Eastlake survived a near-upset Friday night, fending off Issaquah 62-52.

The Wolves, who sit only one game behind league-leading Garfield and Skyline, trailed Issaquah 50-40 headed into the fourth quarter, before closing the game out on a 22-2 run.

Senior Michael Russo helped spark the comeback with a 29-point performance. Ryan Sikma was the next highest scorer for the Wolves with nine points.

Issaquah, which led through most of the first three quarters, was paced by Nick Price’s 19 points and Joe Evans’ 11. Eastlake moved to 10-4 in league and 13-5 overall with the victory. The Wolves get a shot at first-place Garfield (11-3) at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Issaquah dropped to 2-12 in league and 5-13 overall. The Eagles close their season out next week with games against Newport and Redmond.

EC falls to O’Dea

Eastside Catholic couldn’t rebound from a slow start Friday night, falling 65-56 to Metro power O’Dea.

The Crusaders trailed 20-8 after the first quarter and 53-36 after the third.

Jake Springfield scored a career-high 30 points for EC, and Joey Schreiber added 12.

O’Dea was led by the 15 points of Sekeo Wiggs.

EC fell to 5-9 in league and 5-13 overall. The Crusaders close out their regular season next week with games against Seattle Prep and Blanchet.
