Another year, another pair of state swimming titles for Eastside Catholic’s Ethan Hallowell.
The Crusader junior brought home two more class 3A championships Saturday afternoon in Federal Way, winning his third straight in the 100 freestyle and first in the 200 freestyle. He won two titles in the 50 freestyle the previous two years.
Hallowell, who was targeting state records in both his events, won the 200 free in an All-American time of 1 minute, 40.48 seconds. He was roughly 3 seconds off the state record held by former Bremerton High standout and Olympian Nathan Adrian.
Hallowell won the 100 free in another All-American time of 45.67 seconds — just over 2 seconds off the state record of former Newport standout and Turkish Olympian Ugur Taner.
Hallowell also started the 200 free relay for Eastside Catholic, which won the B final, and finished ninth overall. The team included sophomore Max Mueller, junior Nick Dees and junior Joe Mahan.
Eastside finished 12th overall as a team with 58 points. Mercer Island won the meet with 396 team points.
