Eastside FC squad to defend national title

The Eastside FC girls 98 Red squad, which captured a national youth soccer championship last year, will have a chance to defend their title in Germantown, Md. in July after its performance at a Las Vegas soccer showcase.

The team, coached by Tom Bialek, includes several players from Issaquah and Sammamish including: Molly Monroe, Alexa Kirton, Cameron Tingey and Kaylene Pang.

Girls lacrosse

Nicole Victory scored four goals to lead Issaquah in the loss to Bainbridge.

Gig Harbor 1 Eastside Catholic 19

The Crusaders used six Maddie Banks goals to get the win over visiting Gig Harbor.

Baseball

Bothell 2 Eastlake 1 (8 inn.)

Jackson Dahl had a pair of base hits for the Wolves, but one run in the seventh and eighth innings gave Bothell the win.

Boys soccer

Skyline 1 Newport 0

Nahir Baxi scored the only goal of the game on a penalty kick in the second half, as Skyline picked up the win over Newport.

Lake Washington 7 Skyline 8

Thomas Hoke scored two goals, including the eventual game winner, and Skyline also got scores from Mike Cowin and Charlie Kurtenbach in the win over Lake Washington.
