The regular season concludes for boys and girls basketball teams tonight, with the postseason and a run at the state tournament commencing Feb. 11 and 12.
Eastlake’s boys squad, which fell to Issaquah 68-55 Tuesday, faces rival Redmond tonight with a 7:30 p.m. scheduled tip in Sammamish. The Mustangs won the earlier meeting between the two, 64-59 in early January.
Issaquah needed a late burst against Eastlake when the two met Tuesday, using 18 points from Jake Henke and a combined 29 from Trevon Ary-Turner and Ty Gibson to get the win.
The Eagles also picked up one of the season’s most impressive wins, beating previously unbeaten and top-ranked Garfield Friday.
Coach Jason Griffith’s team, which now owns a 12-2 conference mark, travels to Newport tonight for the regular season finale.
Skyline fell by a single point to Roosevelt Saturday, and hosts Garfield tonight in its final regular season game.
Eastside Catholic wrapped up a division title last week with a 71-66 win over Metro rival O’Dea, and picked up a 77-70 win over West Seattle in its final regular season game Tuesday.
The 4A KingCo boys basketball tournament begins Tuesday with opening round games hosted by the higher seed, and continues through Feb. 21 with the tournament title game.
The two teams that reach the championship game earn automatic regional round spots, with the third place finisher taking on a Wesco foe for the final place in the round of 16.
The Metro League tournament also begins Feb. 11, when the Crusaders open their playoff run with the Mountain Division title in hand. EC has already punched its Sea-King District Tournament spot, where the top eight teams from Metro will meet the top four from KingCo for places in the 3A regional round.
Girls basketball
The Lady Wolves also take on Redmond in their final regular season game, tonight at 6 p.m.
Eastlake lost a 78-59 game to Issaquah Wednesday, as Mandie Hill scored a game high 34 points to lead the Eagles. Marijke Vanderschaaf led Eastlake with 18, while Maggie Douglas added 16 in the loss.
Issaquah, which has locked up the second seed from the Crown to next week’s conference tournament, faces division leader Newport tonight in the regular season finale.
Skyline, which 54-44 game to the Knights Thursday, face Garfield tonight.
The Eastside Catholic girls finished their Metro League slate Wednesday with a 52-40 win over West Seattle. The Crusaders open the conference tournament Feb. 11 before the Sea-King District Tournament begins Feb. 15.
