Pitcher Ethan Clements struck out eight batters in the first three innings and finished the game with 12 strikeouts while allowing only one hit. He struck out the side in three of his five innings pitched.

The game’s only run came in the fifth inning. Issaquah’s Tanner Laine lined a single in to right field. Laine stole second for his 52nd steal of the year. Ian Christie followed with a dominant at-bat. He looked at 10 pitches, fouling off six of them, before driving the ball in to center for a hit. Ryland Kerr reached base with a bunt and Jason Santiago followed with an RBI single to right.

Santiago took the mound in the sixth to close the game, striking out one and not allowing a hit.

The Dragons beat some of the Northwest’s top 12-year-old teams on their way to the championship game, including wins over Sherwood, Ore., 12-1; Camas, 10-4 and Oregon Select, 12-0.

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Issaquah traveled to Redding, Calif., and won the Ball Players Association Western Regional Championship. The Dragons beat the Delta Dogs from Brentwood, Calif., 10-0 in four innings, earning them a berth in the BPA World Series later this year. This is the second World Series berth the 11-U Dragons earned this year.
