The undefeated Issaquah Cubs-White youth football team beat the Bellevue Cubs-White team 8-0 in Saturday’s semifinal to advance to the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association championship.
Issaquah Cub White running back Bain “The Train” Johnson broke the scoreless tie through three quarters, busting open a 60-yard run down the sideline for a touchdown.
Peyton Porter added the point after touchdown, providing the game’s final points.
With 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter Bellevue’s offense mounted an impressive drive before Issaquah defensive end Jared Humenny forced and recovered a fumble.
This was the second win for the Issaquah Cubs-White over the Bellevue Cubs-White. They earned a 21-6 victory earlier in the season.
Next Saturday’s championship will feature the Issaquah Cubs-White (10-0) against the Bellevue Cubs-Blue (10-0) at Pop Keeney Field. Game time is to be determined.
