An Issaquah grad is headed to the Women's Professional Soccer League while an Eastside Catholic sophomore earns a tournament team invite

Issaquah graduate drafted to professional soccer league

2008 Issaquah High School grad and 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-American for the University of Washington Kate Deines was selected with the final pick of the Women’s Professional Soccer League Draft by the Atlanta Beat.

Deines was a second-team All-Pac 12 performer as  a senior in addition to making first-team All-Pacific Region, second-team All-Academic Pac-12 and being named to the 20-year All UW Women’s soccer team.

EC sophomore selected to Under Armour team

Eastside Catholic’s Colin MacInvennie has been named to the West team for the upcoming Under Armour Underclass All-Star Lacrosse Tournament, making him the only player from the state of Washington to earn the honor.

MacIlvennie was one of only five sophomore selected was the second leading scorer for the Crusaders, which reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.

The West squad will compete with teams from East Coast lacrosse hotbeds including Baltimore, Long Island, New England, Upstate New York and more. The tournament is June 29-July 1 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University.
