Issaquah won its fifth straight league match Monday night, beating Eastlake in three sets — 25-16, 26-24, 25-16.
Alyssa Schultz led the Eagles with 13 kills. Sara Hanna added 10 kills, Stephanie Stoll had nine, and Rachel Roeder added six kills and three aces.
Eastlake was led by Alyssa Charlston’s six kills, and Claire Salmon’s 14 digs.
The Eagles, who play Skyline on Wednesday, improved to 6-1 in league and 6-4 overall. The Wolves, who face Newport on Wednesday, moved to 3-4 in league and 4-5 overall.
Eastside drops rematch with Blanchet
Eastside Catholic looked for redemption against Blanchet Monday night, but came up short in a five-set loss — 25-12, 24-26, 25-16, 20-25, 15-9.
Blanchet, the top ranked 3A team in the state in some polls, handed Eastside Catholic its only other loss on Sept. 23.
“The crowd was electric and spirited and spurred the team on,” Eastside Catholic head coach Andrew Ness wrote, on his team blog. “You could feel the excitement in the air, but it just wasn’t enough to get past them.”
Brooke Bachesta had 16 kills and 24 digs for the Crusaders, while Cami Silverman had nine kills and 22 digs. Kelsey Miller added 10 digs and 28 assists for Eastside.
Blanchet was paced by the 20 kills and 17 digs of Summer Nash. Monday marked the first time in 11 matches this season Blanchet was pushed to five sets.
Eastside moved to 5-2 in league and 8-2 overall. Blanchet improved to 7-0 in league and 11-0 overall. Monday’s match can be viewed later this week on Comcast On Demand. The Crusaders host Bainbridge at 6 p.m., Wednesday for their next match.
Skyline beats Newport
Skyline defeated Newport in four sets Monday night, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-14.
Maddie Magee led the Spartans with 15 kills and three aces. Madison Stoa had 30 assists and three aces.
Skyline improved to 4-3 in league and 4-6 overall. Newport, which had only lost one game, fell to 4-2 in league and 7-2 overall.
Skyline plays its next match at 7 p.m., Wednesday against Issaquah at Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus.
