Issaquah won its fifth straight league game and ninth overall Tuesday night, beating Newport 2-0.
Audrey Thomas got the Eagles on the board first with a goal in the 20th minute, via an assist from Rachel Wheeler.
Wheeler then knocked in a score of her own in the 41st minute off an assist from Margaret Rauch. The Eagles improved to 5-0 in league and 9-1 overall.
Softli’s hat trick leads Eastlake to big soccer win over Inglemoor
Eastlake senior forward Jaclyn Softli recorded her second hat trick of the season Tuesday night, scoring three goals in the Wolves’ 5-0 victory over Inglemoor.
Softli, who now has 12 goals on the season, scored 9th, 13th and 75th minutes. Ann Heine scored Eastlake’s two other goals, knocking in scores in the 25th and 71st minutes.
Goalkeeper Kate Zopolos recorded the shutout for the Wolves, who improved to 3-0-1 in league and 5-4-1 overall.
Skyline scores season high
Skyline finally allowed an opponent to score Tuesday, but made up for it with a season-high in goals, beating Ballard 7-2.
Maddie Christ had a goal and three assists, while teammate Madi Barney knocked in two goals.
Skyline also got goals from Alisha Connors, Michelle Bretl, Jackie Wilson and Casey Kovarik. The Spartans improved to 4-0 in league and 9-0 overall with the victory. They have now outscored opponents 33-2 this season.
VOLLEYBALL
Eastside Catholic earns redemption over Blanchet
Eastside Catholic evened up its season series with Blanchet Tuesday night in Seattle, beating the Braves in four games — 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16.
Cami Silverman and Kameron McLain combined for 22 and 14 kills, respectively. Silverman also led the Crusaders with 11 digs.
Setters Hannah Christie and Emilee Derus had 19 and 17 kills, respectively.
Eastside Catholic improved to 8-1 in league and 10-2 overall. The Crusaders hold a one-and-a-half game lead over Seattle Prep (6-2, 10-2), who they close the regular season out against on Oct. 14.
TENNIS
Varas keeps unbeaten streak alive
Eastlake lost 6-1 to Newport Tuesday afternoon, but the Wolves’ No. 1 singles player Vincente Varas kept his record flawless. The junior defending KingCo 4A singles champion defeated Ryan Chueng, 6-3, 6-0.
Newport won all six of the other matches in two sets.
Eastlake has two regular-season matches remaining.
SWIMMING
Issaquah wins three-team meet
Issaquah defeated two league opponents Tuesday afternoon at Juanita Pool, beating Inglemoor 115-70, and Eastlake 111-75.
The Eagles won seven events, including two relays, to pick up the team victories.
Sophomores Stacy Maier and Kayla Flaten both won two individual events and were on both winning relays. Maier won the 200 IM (2 minutes, 14.71 seconds) and 100 back (1:01.27), while Flaten won the 50 free (26.06) and 100 free (56.07). Sophomore Kellie Langan won the 100 fly in 1:06.94, while Issaquah’s 200 medley relay (1:56.89) and 400 free relay (3:52.17) were also victorious.
Eastlake’s Kara Beauchamp won two events for the Wolves, taking the 200 free (2:04.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.37), while diver Mackenzie Rands won with a score of 204.65.
GOLF
Skyline downs Ballard by 22 strokes
Skyline defeated Ballard by 22 strokes Tuesday afternoon, 192-214, at Jackson Park in Seattle
The Beavers’ Michael Day had the best overall score with an even par, 36, but the Spartans claimed three of the next four spots to earn the victory. Brian Mogg and Nathan Stephenson tied with Ballard’s Eric Frank for third with a 2 over par, 38s.
