Issaquah Youth Lacrosse teams nab gold, silver

The Issaquah Youth Lacrosse Senior Green and Senior Purple teams brought home gold and silver June 13 from the Beaverton Invitational Tournament in Beaverton, Ore.

The Issaquah Youth Lacrosse Senior Green and Senior Purple teams brought home gold and silver June 13 from the Beaverton Invitational Tournament in Beaverton, Ore.

The Skyline High-bound Senior Green players went 3-0 in their bracket, amassing 39 goals while allowing only three goals against.

The Issaquah High-bound Senior Purple team went 2-1 in their bracket to capture silver.

Green standout players included Ryan Benz (11 goals, one assist), Cannon Gardner (eight goals, seven assists), Nick Mauzy (six goals, one assist), Peyton Pelluer (15 ground balls, two goals, three assists), Henry Jarvis ( 11 ground balls, one goal, two assists), Jimmy Boyle (eight ground balls, two assists) and James Fleming (8 ground balls).

Peyton Pelluer won nearly all his faceoffs, and goalkeeper Chris Debenham allowed only three goals.

IYL Purple standout players included Julian Ritchie (four goals, seven ground balls), Aaron Rosen (three goals, seven ground balls), Sean Colter (nine ground balls), and Wyatt Johnson (seven ground balls).

Shoot-out on the Plateau

Issaquah Youth Lacrosse with host its fourth annual Sammamish Shoot-Out Lacrosse tournament at 9 a.m., Friday, July 3 at Pine Lake Middle School.

It will be played in a 3-on-3, Chumash-style with boys and girls divisions in grades 3/4 through high school.

Chumash is a style of lacrosse played on a small field with an unmanned goal. Teams are expected to attend from Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Canada. Awards are given in all divisions.
