Issaquah’s Robertson headed to Hall of Fame | Prep sports news

Issaquah will have its cross country coach recognized in a ceremony as she is inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Longtime Issaquah cross country coach Gwen Robertson is one of four coaches who will be inducted into the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013 at a ceremony in Everett on Friday, Jan. 28.

Robertson, who has been at Issaquah since 1983, helped the girls program to three state titles in the mid-1980s and a runner-up finish in 1989. Her teams have won more than a dozen KingCo and district titles.

Before coming to the prep ranks, Robertson was an accomplished athlete in her own right and made the U.S. National Team in Racewalking from 1983-86.

Jim Mclachan (East Valley-Spokane), Ron Fleming (Granger) and Sam Ring (Wilson-Tacoma) are the other inductees. The ceremony is at the Everett Holiday Inn at 6:45 as part of the Track & Field/Cross Country Annual Convention.
