Issaquah, Eastside Catholic and Skyline all brought home a trophy from the state tennis tournament

Issaquah’s Jack Suh finished in second place at the 4A boys singles state tennis tournament, winning three of his four matches before falling to Newport’s Jason Lui in the finals.

Suh beat Cameron Martin 6-1, 6-1 in the first round, before taking care of Alex Chan of Thomas Jefferson by the same count in the quarterfinals.

Another win, 6-4, 6-0, over Jamie Buatista of Olympia sent Suh to the title match, where he fell to the 4A KingCo singles champion Lui.

Eastside Catholic duo finishes fourth in 3A doubles

Eastside Catholic’s Megan Bastian and Rachel DeCaires finished in fourth place in the 3A girls doubles tournament, finishing with three wins and only a single loss over the two days.

Bastian and DeCaires won their first round match 6-3, 6-2, before falling in the fifth tiebreak in their quarterfinal match.

The EC duo rebounded to win a 6-2, 6-0 match against a pair from University to reach the fourth place match, where they beat district foes Mihi Shuh and Jamie Mounger of Mercer Island 6-2, 7-5 to take the fourth place trophy back to Crusader Way.

Skyline pair eighth in 4A tourney

Skyline’s Julia Lioubarski and Jasmine Ye finished in eighth place in the 4A girls doubles tournament, winning two of their four matches.

Lioubarski and Park lost their first match of the tournament 6-3, 6-1, before coming back in the consolation bracket with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win to extend their stay.

Another win, 6-3, 6-3, over Carina LeFave and Kylee McKay of Moses Lake sent them to the fifth place match, where they lost both sets to Alex Ferry and Ariel Steinback of Garfield.
