Eastside Catholic freshman Matt Iwicki is in the final four in the 113 pound 3A bracket and Eastlake junior Eric Harper is two wins from a title at 170 pounds in 4A

Eastside Catholic freshman Matt Iwicki rebounded from a semi-final loss to take third place at 113 pounds in the 3A bracket at his first ever Mat Classic.

Jou Stoutt lost in the first round at 195 pounds but won three straight matches, all by decision, to earn a spot in the third place match, where he was dropped by T.J. Cormier of Enumclaw.

Eastlake’s Eric Harper reached the semi-finals before an injury cut short his match against eventual champion Sam Voigtlander of Mead.

Harper continued to battle through the injury in his final two matches before eventually finishing in sixth place.

Girls basketball

Woodinville overcame a late lead to take the 4A KingCo crown from Eastlake in a 54-48 win.

Mackenzie Campbell finished with 19 points to lead all scorers for the Falcons.

The Wolves will open the Regional round at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Boys basketball

Issaquah, making its first title game appearance in a half-decade, was upended by Garfield and the 16 points of Tre’Vaunte Williams and 18 of Tucker Haymond.

The Eagles will be at Juanita for the Regional round and open the tournament at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24.

Friday, Feb. 17

Eastside Catholic’s Matt Iwicki is into Saturday’s semi-final round after a second round pin of Christian Bagdadi of Everett and a 10-0 win over Marcus Hartman from Camas.

Iwicki was one of the three freshman to begin the day in the 113 pound  bracket in class 3A but is the only that remains. He will face Bonney Lake sophomore Colton Tracy tomorrow at 10:10 a.m. for a spot in the title match against either Luis Renya of Mount Vernon or Josh Newberg of Kelso.

Eastlake’s Eric Harper is the lone underclassmen remaining in the 170 pound 4A bracket after a 10-3 decision over Andrew Ramirez of Issaquah and an 8-4 defeat of Colby Barber from Shelton.

Harper will face Sam Voigtlander from Mead, who has a pin and 8-0 win to his credit thus far, in an 11:00 a.m. semi-final on Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Dillon Thomas and Matt Rice of Union will meet in the other semi-final.
