Klatt, Harwin lead locals at Sea Fair Tri | Community sports news

A 16-year-old from Issaquah finished fourth in the BRI Triathlon at Seafair, leading a host of locals.

Issaquah 16-year-old Nicholas Klatt was the highest local finisher among a host of competitors at the BRI Triathlon at Seafair recently, finishing fourth overall in a total time of one hour, 50 minutes and 31 seconds.

Klatt was the highest finisher in his age group of 16-19, with times of 16:46 (swim), 52:07 bike) and 38:50 (run).

32-year-old Brian Foley finished in 21st place overall and third in his age division, Sammamish’s Jeff Derstadt, a 34-year-old, ended his race in 69th place overall and 12th in his division. Local residents Richard Smith, Tim Bartlett, Amado Cabrera, John Carey, Kris Bartlett and Viveka Lazor also competed and finished the triathlon, which included 311 total finishers.

Sean Harwin, a 25-year-old from Issaquah, won the sprint tri in a total time of 1:01:26. That event included 627 finishers. 43-year-old Charles Poggemann of Sammamish finished in 51st place, while Preston Sater, Reed Sillers and Derrick Parker also cracked the top-100.
