The grounds of Lake Sammamish State Park weren’t only flooded with water from the previous night’s rain early Saturday morning, but a whole slew of athletes.
Just shy of 1,200 competitors — men, women, kids — converged on the park for the 10th Annual Issaquah Triathlon, Dualathlon, 10K, 5K and Kids Triathlon.
Under sunny, cool skies, Seattle’s Nicolas Flacco, 27, won the men’s triathlon in a time of 1 hour, 13 seconds. The course started with a quarter-mile swim off Sunset Beach in Lake Sammamish, followed by a 15-mile bike ride on area roads and a 3-mile cross country-style run through Lake Sammamish State Park.
Mathieu Signoretty, 20, of Sammamish finished fifth in the event in a time of 1:04:27.
On the women’s side, Bellevue’s Stacia McInnes finished first in a time of 1:09:06.
Sammamish resident Robin White finished fourth in the event in a time of 1:11:26.
The dualathlon, in its second year, featured 95 total athletes. Top local finishers on the men’s side included a fourth-place finish from Issaquah’s Robert Weisel (1:01:20) and an eighth-place from Sammamish’s Mark Nicholson (1:07:19).
Top local finishers on the women’s side included a fifth-place from Sammamish’s Carri Miller (1:09:59) and sixth-place Issaquah’s Shannon Lampman (1:12:16).
Issaquah’s Rebecca Tollefson won the 10K run in 45:19. For complete results go to www.issaquahtri.com/.
Proceeds from Saturday’s event went to support Arbor Montessori Schools and Eastside Montessori Education Foundation.
