Opening weekend of district baseball tournament takes place in Sammamish

Summer baseball tourney is a tradition on the Eastside.

The opening weekend of the Washington State District 9 Little League all-star baseball tournament, which is for players between 11 and 12 years of age, took place at Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish from July 7-8. The event, which is hosted by Sammamish Little League, has 14 teams from Eastside communities partaking in the tournament. The tournament will continue this weekend and will conclude on either Monday, July 16 or on Tuesday, July 17 (if necessary). Games this week during weeknights will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday games begin at 10 a.m. and Sunday games will kick off at noon. Eastside Little League programs participating in the tournament include Bellevue East, Bellevue Thunderbird, Bellevue West, Eastlake, Falls, Issaquah, Kirkland American, Kirkland National, Mercer Island, Redmond North, Redmond West, Sammamish, Snoqualmie Valley and Snoqualmie Valley North.
