Issaquah Eagles soccer defender Kaylene Pang was a vital part of the Issaquah Eagles magical 2015 run to the Class 4A state soccer title.
Pang, who will play soccer at the University of Washington next season, said winning the state title in 2015 was something she will never forget.
“It was so awesome. It was really unique and is something I will always remember,” Pang said of winning the Class 4A 2015 state title. “Issaquah soccer has such a great reputation. Everyone expects us to be super duper good so we have to play to that level of expectations every game. It is definitely a challenge. I think we are doing well and we are continuing to get better.”
Issaquah head coach Tom Bunnell concurred with Pang’s sentiment.
“It is really hard to defend one (title). Teams are gunning for you,” Bunnell said in early October.
The Eagles saw their 2016 season end with a 3-1 loss to the Woodinville Falcons in a winner-to-state, loser-out game on Nov. 5. The Eagles finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 12-4-2.
Pang was selected to compete in the sixth annual high school All-American soccer game on Dec. 3 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Recently the Issaquah/Sammamish Reporter had an opportunity to ask Pang a few questions about her life outside of the soccer field.
