Wolves advance five to district tourney
The Eastlake golf team captured second place at the KingCo 4A medalist tournament Tuesday at Snohomish Golf Course. The Wolves scored 449 as a team, finishing only behind Redmond (417). Eastlake’s Dana Mydland took second overall with a 79. She tied Redmond’s Kara Zitzman, who won a tiebreaker. Emmie Schwartz (87) finished seventh overall and Megan Wotherspoon (89) finished ninth. Hannah Ostic (96) and Tera Stenhouse (98) also finished in the top 32, advancing to Wednesday’s District 2 tournament.
Skyline grabs fifth
The Skyline golf team finished fifth overall at the KingCo 4A medalist tournament, shooting a combined 500. Emily Baldwin finished in 10th place with a 90. Teammates Ashley Young (90) and Chelsea Guenette (90) finished 11th and 12th, respectively and earned trips to Wednesday’s District 2 tournament.
Issaquah finishes sixth
Issaquah finished in sixth place at the KingCo 4A medalist tournament with a combined 514. Katherine Yoon earned 16th place for the Eagles with a 92. Serena Lertkantitham (99) also made the cut of 32 and advanced to the District 2 tournament.
SOFTBALL
Issaquah slams Garfield
Issaquah beat Garfield in five innings Monday, 10-0. Brianna Bray, Kelly Richards and Kim Sekijima all had multiple hits for the Eagles. Bray earned the win in the pitching circle allowing just two hits in the shutout. Issaquah moved to 13-2 in league and 15-3 overall. They played Redmond in the final regular-season game Wednesday.
Skyline edges Eastlake
Skyline beat Plateau rival Eastlake 2-0 on Monday behind just one hit. Anya Kamber doubled and scored in the fourth to help lead the Spartans to the win. Pitcher Ashley Smiley went a complete seven innings allowing just four hits and struck out eight. Skyline moved to 5-10 in league and 6-13 overall with the win. The Spartans kept their playoff hopes alive headed into Wednesday’s game with Garfield. Eastlake dropped to 7-7 and 8-9. They sit comfortably in the No. 3 playoff spot in the KingCo Crest.
