Crusaders nearly get upset
Eastside Catholic had the No. 1 ranked 3A team in the state, Franklin, against the ropes Tuesday, but came up just shy, 65-57.
The Crusaders led the Quakers 43-41 going into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 24-14 in the final frame. Darin Nakatsu led Eastside with 14 points. Franklin’s Peyton Siva led all scorers with 21. The Crusaders fell 59-49 to O’Dea on Friday and 53-51 to Cleveland on Saturday. Eastside is now 2-8 in league and 4-8 overall.

Issaquah edges Skyline
Issaquah moved into sole possession of first place Friday night, beating rival Skyline 56-53. The Eagles had three scorers in double figures, led by Maddy Pflaumer’s 17. Brooke Miller scored 12 and Alexa Smith had 10. Skyline was led by Lindsey Perry’s 17. Issaquah improved to 5-1 in league and 7-3 overall with the win. Skyline moved to 5-3 in league and 7-4 overall.
Eastlake downs Redmond
Eastlake won its third straight game Friday, beating Redmond 55-44 at EHS. Alyssa Charlston scored 20, Ellie Martinez scored 19, and Laura Bachman had 10. They accounted for all but six of the Wolves’ points. Eastlake is now 5-2 in league and 7-3 overall.

Skyline defeated Plateau rival Eastlake 38-27 Tuesday night in a dual meet at EHS. The Spartans received pins from Anthony DeMatteo (189), Joey DeMatteo (119), Collin Ehret (125) and Nolan Richards (135). Joey Christianson (160) and Jordan McCaslin (140) won one-point decisions. Eastlake’s Max Benjamin (103), Adam Nakanishi (112) and Shay Fuentes all earned pins.
