Skyline hangs on to top spot

First-place Skyline led from start to finish Tuesday night, beating Lake Washington 3-1. The Spartans received a goal in the 6th minute from Emily Anderson. Michelle Bretl added a score in the 30th minute. The Kangaroos closed the gap late with a goal in the 71st minute, but another goal from Anderson in the 77th minute sealed the deal for Skyline. The Spartans improved to 8-1 in league and 12-2 overall with the victory. Skyline played at Redmond Thursday, and closes out the regular season at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27 at home against Newport.

Beahan scores two goals in 5-0 win

Eastlake cruised to a 5-0 victory over Inglemoor Tuesday night behind two first-half goals from Allie Beahan. Kellie Morro added a goal in the 19th minute to lead the Wolves to a 3-0 halftime lead. Jaclyn Softli and Abby Frenkel provided insurance goals in the second half as Eastlake improved to 7-2 in league and 9-4-1 overall. Goalkeepers Bryce Kennedy and Kate Zopolos combined for the shutout. The Wolves, who sit in third place behind Skyline and Issaquah faced Lake Washington on Thursday, and close out the regular season at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27 at home against Redmond.

Issaquah wins big over Roosevelt

Issaquah defeated Roosevelt 4-1 Tuesday night, behind two goals from Margaret Rauch. She scored once in the 18th minute and again in the 69th minute. Abby Glasgow started the scoring barrage off with a score in the 11th minute. Kristen Maris scored her league-leading 12th goal of the season in the 54th minute. Rauch sits in second place with nine goals. The Eagles improved to 8-1 in league and 11-2 overall. They sit in second place in the KingCo 4A, behind Skyline which won the regular-season matchup. Issaquah faced Garfield on Thursday, and closes the regular season out at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Bothell.

EC downs Lakeside

Eastside Catholic defeated kept its postseason hopes alive Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over Metro powerhouse Lakeside. Kristin Standish scored both goals for the Crusaders, punching in shots in the 48th and 68th minutes. Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas earned the shutout for Eastside, which improved to 2-4-2 in the Metro, and 7-5-3 overall. The Crusaders played Holy Names Thursday and close out their regular season at 3:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26 at home against Blanchet.

TENNIS

Skyline dominates Bothell

Skyline won all three of its doubles matches and claimed its top three singles matches Tuesday afternoon to beat Bothell 6-1. Spartan No. 1 singles player Tyler Van Grunsven beat David Maggs 6-1, 6-0. Aman Manji defeated Russell Kilgannon 6-2, 6-1 and Ben Huang also won in two sets over Dakota Newton, 6-3, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles team of Win Hubbard and Nasi Teodosiadis defeated Tim Bultman and Jake Arlan 7-5, 6-2 while Max Kerwien and Zach Oseran, and Steven Do and Mitch Johnson also earned two-set wins.

SWIMMING

Eagles win final dual

Issaquah closed out its dual meet season Tuesday afternoon with a dominating 115.5-56.5 victory over non-league Interlake. The Eagles won 10 of 12 events, including all three relays. Sadie Phipps won the 200 IM (2 minutes, 35.66 seconds) and anchored the 200 free relay to victory. Kayla Flaten won the 100 butterfly (1:02.82), Sarah Mirahsani won the 500 free (6:43.38), Shannon Chen won the 100 back (1:15.67), Becca West won the 100 breaststroke (1:20.46) and Jamie Elderkin placed first in diving (167.15).
