Skyline High School is after a new athletic director, with current AD Ryan Gilbert accepting a position as the Director of Ministries at Sambica, the nearly century-old summer camp and retreat center on Lake Sammamish.

Gilbert, who took the position at Skyline to begin the 2011-12 school year, said the volume of athletes participating in sports at the school, its immense success in team sports and healthy geographic and district rivalries were hallmarks of his time with the Spartans.

“We’ve got a lot going on,” he said. “I really hope and believe that translates into a lot of a kid having some really good experiences with high school sports.”

Gilbert’s tenure at Skyline ends at the conclusion of February.
