Skyline boys grab KingCo track & field title

Skyline won a meet best six events Friday to claim the KingCo 4A boys track and field title at Eastlake High School.

The Spartans, led by Kasen Williams’ three wins, scored 127 points, finishing ahead of Bothell (90.5).

Williams won the triple jump with a leap of 49 feet, 3 3/4 inches, the long jump at 23-10 1/2 and the high jump at 6-10.

Blake Digiovanni and Jordan Coutts finished second and third in the high jump, respectively, helping Skyline sweep the top three spots.

Senior Alex Lee won two events, finishing first in the 100 (11.01 seconds) and the 200 in (22.17).

The 400 relay of Lee, Dustin Bratten, Joey Kettel and Blake Young also finished first overall in 42.69 seconds.

Eastlake placed third overall at the KingCo championships with 80 team points.

The Wolves won four events, paced by double victories from senior Jeff Sloat. He claimed the 110 high hurdles in 14.97 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.21.

Senior Brandon Cole won Eastlake’s other individual title finishing first in the 400 with the only sub 50-second time (49.79).

The 1,600 relay team of Daniel Jackstadt, Cole, Curtis McCarson and finished first with a 3:23.03, narrowly ahead of Skyline (3:23.94).

Issaquah placed fifth overall in the two-day meet with 63.5 points.

The Eagles were led by second-place finishes from Alex Farmer and Josh Martyn in the 110 hurdles (15.53) and 300 hurdles (40.79), respectively.
