The Skyline girls track and field team claimed the 4A bi-district meet between KingCo schools and Southwest Washington schools Saturday at Seattle’s Southwest Complex, earning 80.5 points. Inglemoor (73) finished in second place, followed by Issaquah (71).
Junior Shealee O’Donnell won the 200 meter title in 24.92 seconds and the Spartans also claimed two relays. The 400 team of Kiara Williams, O’Donnell, Kaylyn Berry and Rachael Butenko won 48.67 seconds and the 800 relay of Michelle Bretl, Berry, Danielle Matthews and O’Donnell won in 1 minute, 41.81 seconds.
Issaquah earned a bi-district title from Johanna Carr in the 100 (12.13). She was also second in the 200 (25.03). The 400 relay of Carr, Kim Varney, Haley Jacobson and Elaine Tran was second (48.92).
Eastlake finished 14th out of 18 teams with 25 total points. The Wolves’ Natalie Lambert scored a team-best third place in the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches). Katelyn Steen placed fourth in the 3,200 (11:49.21) and Julia Bicknell was fourth in the high jump (5-2).
Spartan boys claim five titles
Skyline was barely edged by Inglemoor Saturday, coming in second at the 4A bi-district meet with 73 points. The Vikings won the meet with 75.5 points.
Skyline had four individual bi-district champions and one relay.
Sophomore Kasen Williams won three titles, jumping to first place in the triple jump (46-5 1/2), long jump (22-1 3/4) and high jump (6-4).
Junior Alex Lee won the 100 in a personal best 10.87 seconds. The 400 relay of Lee, Williams, Tommy Aarts and Dustin Bratten won the title in 43.19 seconds.
Eastlake finished in fourth place overall with 59.5 team points. The Wolves’ 1,600 relay of Eliot Lee, Keenan Clinch, Paul Kupcis and Brandon Cole won the sole Eastlake title in 3:23.39.
Cole finished second in the 400 (50.23) and Kupcis was third in the 800 (1:57.66).
The Issaquah boys took 12th of 18 teams with 29 points. Dillon Reagan grabbed a third-place finish for the Eagles in the shot put (50-3 1/4). The 400 relay of Ryan Tiernan, Jack Duffy, Kyle Hansen and Alex Pearl also took third (43.52).
The 2A, 3A, 4A state track and field meet will take place May 28-30 at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. It’s the first time in seven years the 3A or 4A meet has taken place on the west side of the mountains.
