The Skyline girls won nine events Thursday afternoon to claim the Issaquah School District meet, held at SHS. The Spartans earned 86 points, finishing ahead of Issaquah (65) and Liberty (25). Haley Ziegler won multiple events for Skyline, nabbing the discus (97 feet) and javelin (112 feet, 7 inches). Other individual winners for the Spartans included Kaylyn Berry (long jump), Kiara Williams (triple jump), Amber Dodd (300 hurdles), Shealee O’Donnell (100) and Erin Vanderwall (3,200). The 400 and 800 relay teams were also victorious.
Issaquah had six individual winners, including Riley Foreman (high jump), Elaine Tran (100 hurdles), Johanna Carr (200), Kaley Allison (400), Olivia Schmoe (800) and Haida Ikeda (1,600).
Sofie Safley was the lone individual winner for Liberty, taking the shot put (29-11 1/2).
Issaquah boys edge Liberty
The Issaquah boys won the city meet with 65.5 points, edging out Liberty (60) and Skyline (45.5).
Ryan Tiernan swept the hurdles, winning the 110 high-hurdles in 15.5 seconds and the 300 in 40.2. Kyle Hansen also won two events, claiming the 100 in 11.3 seconds and leaping 20-11 in the long jump. Other individual winners for Issaquah included Isaac Robinson (3,200) and Dillon Reagan (shot put).
Peter Stacy paced Liberty with wins in the discus (115-4 1/2) and javelin (151-4). Skyline had two first place finishes. Simon Sorenson won the 1,600 (4:28.9) and Kasen Williams won the high jump (6-4).
The KingCo Championships begin Wednesday, May 13 at Eastlake High School and conclude Friday, May 15.
