Skyline got off to a fast start against non-league Mercer Island Thursday night, but couldn’t keep its momentum.
The Spartans won the first game against the Islanders 25-19, but dropped the next three by two points — 25-23, 26-24, 25-23.
Maddie Magee led Skyline with 19 kills and three aces. Halle Erdahl had seven kills and eight aces, while Alyssa Workman had 31 assists.
It was the first loss for the Spartans, who fell to 3-1 in non-league competition.
Crusaders lose close on to Blanchet
Blanchet and Eastside Catholic went the distance in Thursday’s Metro League matchup, with the Braves finishing on top after five games — 24-26, 25-18, 25-16, 12-25, 16-14.
Kameron McLain led the Crusaders with 17 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and six aces. Hannah Christie had 21 assists for EC.
Blanchet was led by Molly Manca’s match-high 21 kills.
Eastside Catholic dropped to 0-1 in league and 3-2 overall.
GOLF
Eastlake edges Issaquah at Sahalee
Eastlake out-shot league rival Issaquah Thursday afternoon at The Wolves’ Spencer Weiss shot a 1-over-par, 37 to take medalist honors. Eastlake’s Evan Allston and Chris Kobak tied for second with 38s. Four golfers, Eastlake’s Jack Strickland and Li Wang, and Alex Ciszewski and Tham tied for fourth with 40s.

Skyline improves to 3-0
Skyline defeated Garfield 115-70 Thursday night at Boehm Pool. The victory moved the Spartans to 3-0 on the season. No results were reported from the meet.
