US Lacrosse honored a host of prep lacrosse players from the area

US Lacrosse Washington named its All-State girls lacrosse team, and it includes three players from Issaquah’s state championship team.

Skyline High School senior and ISD midfielder Katie Bucy was selected to the 18-person team, along with Issaquah junior midfielder Suzy Emerson and junior defender Jordan Hepperle.

Emerson and Bucy also earned All-State honors in 2013.

Bean, Strode Academic All-Americans

A pair of boys lacrosse players were recognized for their academic and athletic pursuits, and named Academic All-Americans for the year.

Issaquah senior attackman Josh Bean, also a member of the swim and dive team for the Eagles, posted a 3.99 grade point average and will attend the University of Washington.

Eastside Catholic defenseman Bradley Strode was also selected, after he earned Salutatorian honors for the senior class with a 3.98 GPA. Strode will attend the University of Southern California after helping the Crusaders to three straight state tournament appearances.

Thomas receives award

Another member of the Eagles state runner-up team was recognized, as senior Matt Thomas won the Bob Scott Award from US Lacrosse, a distinction based on character.

The award is given annually to, “A senior high school student-athlete in each of the US Lacrosse national areas who goes above and beyond in service to his team, school and community and exemplifies the fundamentals of lacrosse, works hard to improve his game and demonstrates leadership both on and off the field.”

Scott is the first Issaquah player to earn the award, after serving as a captain on this year’s team and posting a team best 53 points.
